What Country Does Haaland Play For?
Erling Haaland plays for Norway. He made his debut for Norway on 5 September 2019 against Malta, starting in a 2–0 home win in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying. On 10 October 2024, he scored a brace against Slovenia to reach 34 international goals, overtaking Jørgen Juve's record that had stood since 1937, becoming Norway's all-time top scorer at the age of 24.
He has scored six international hat-tricks for Norway, including a five-goal haul in an 11–1 win over Moldova. He will make his first FIFA World Cup appearance in 2026, after helping Norway qualify for the tournament for the first time since 1998.
How Many Premier League Goals Does Haaland Have?
Haaland has 107 Premier League goals in 126 league appearances, having passed the 100-goal mark in the English top flight in early December. He has won the Golden Boot, the award for the Premier League's top scorer, in three of his four seasons with the club.
That output places him among the fastest players in Premier League history to reach the century mark — a record that took most other strikers far longer to achieve.
How Much Did Man City Pay for Haaland?
Manchester City signed Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022 after triggering his release clause, paying £51.2 million. That figure secured him for £12 million less than the £63 million initially reported.
The deal made him only the ninth-most expensive transfer of that summer, cheaper than Antony's near-£80 million move to Manchester United, Alexander Isak's £58.9 million switch to Newcastle, and Darwin Nunez's £71.5 million transfer to Liverpool. At the time of his move, Isak and Nunez had scored a combined 140 club goals between them, while Haaland alone had already scored 135. In hindsight, given everything he has delivered since, it stands as one of the best-value transfers in Premier League history.
