No — as of June 2026, Erling Haaland is fully fit. He impressed during Norway's final training sessions before travelling to Boston, reportedly in strong form ahead of the team's first World Cup match since 1998. Norway coach Ståle Solbakken has called him the "world's best goalscorer" and described him as primed for a massive impact at the tournament.

That clean bill of health follows a turbulent run of fitness scares earlier in the year that had Manchester City supporters on edge for weeks at a time.

What Happened to Haaland?

The 2025–26 season brought several separate injury concerns, each requiring its own explanation. In early March 2026, he picked up an issue in training and missed City's away win at Leeds, marking his first absence from a Premier League squad since May 2025. That issue was later identified as a minor knee injury sustained on February 28, 2026, when he twisted awkwardly during a training drill. He returned to full training by March 7, with Pep Guardiola confirming he felt "much better."

A separate scare followed weeks later. Haaland was substituted in the 60th minute of a Champions League clash with Real Madrid in mid-March, shaking his head while taking his seat on the bench — though Guardiola quickly clarified, "Erling Haaland has no injury," confirming he would be available for the Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

There was also a fatigue-related withdrawal earlier in February. He asked to be substituted at half-time against Fulham after feeling uncomfortable, with Guardiola attributing it to fatigue rather than injury, noting Haaland had started his season as far back as the FIFA Club World Cup in June 2025.

Across his career, Haaland's injury history includes issues with his thigh, ankle, knee, groin, foot, and back — with three separate thigh injuries alone. Despite that list, none of his issues this season kept him out for long, and he enters the World Cup with no lingering concerns.
